About

The Author

John Riddle attended Jesmond Road School ,Dyke House Comprehensive and the College of Further Education before going to Leeds University.

He began writing for the Hartlepool Mail in the 1960’s mainly sport, but his writing career did not take off until he retired and went to live in the Canary islands.

He was the sports editor of an English Language newspaper for ten years and that rekindled his interest in writing. He then founded his own publishing company to encourage more local

authors into print.

Economic factors have since influenced publications with ISBN conditions and the costs imposed by local councils and libraries to include photographs in books.

John is now writing “not for profit books” to help “preserve and share local history”.

His book "Hartlepool People" is now being serialised in "Hartlepool Life" the new FREE newspaper for Hartlepool, written by Hartlepool People for Hartlepool People.
